THEM/Sanko Introduce New Auto-Splice Film System at Pack ExpoChicago, Ill. – At the 2008 Pack Expo exhibition (November 9-13), Sanko and THEM were proud to present a new innovation in production for stick packaging machines. Their new auto-splice system will increase productivity by reducing the downtime created when a roll of film must be changed. “Customer reaction at PackExpo was very enthusiastic, as everybody is confronted by the inefficiencies tied to roll changes,” said Neil Kozarsky, CEO of THEM. “This is just another example of Sanko staying ahead of the curve and being responsive to the demands of our customers.” The Auto-Splice system incorporates two independent film roll spindles in an over/under configuration. Utilizing re-enforced pivot bearings, each roll spindle can pivot out for easy roll change and application of the adhesive tape for the next splice. The splicing mechanism fires pneumatically to join the new film to the existing web then cut the old web – without ever stopping production. Since the Auto-Splice system is a self-contained design, it retrofits to standard Sanko machines with relatively minimal installation effort. “We believe the introduction of Sanko's new autosplice equipment/machinery represents a very significant development in the industry,” said Kozarsky. “One of the biggest buzzwords in today's packaging machinery industry is 'OEE' (overall equipment effectiveness), and the Auto-Splice system is sure to increase the OEE of many of our customers' production.” Founded in 1973, T.H.E.M. has served as the gateway for North American companies to find innovative packaging solutions. By monitoring packaging trends globally, T.H.E.M identifies innovations from all over the world for application in a diverse range of industrial and consumer product companies in North America. |
